Yup, their long-running custody battle is now over — for now! And it’s a win-win situation for everyone: Britney Spears got more access to her children, and Kevin Federline got some more cash. He still retains the sole custody but the pop princess will now have three visits per week, with at least two overnight visits, with the possibility of expanded rights by the end of the year. Confirming that Britney Spears will now get more access to Sean Preston and Jayden James, the singer’s attorney Laura Wasser said told the Associated Press: “The fact is, it’s a win for the family.” Ms. Wasser also pointed to the agreement as further evidence of Britney Spears’ continuing recovery. She said, “The difference from the beginning of this year to now is astonishing.”
Meanwhile, Kevin Federline’s lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan told the press, “The case has been settled. The court still has to approve it … All the issues that would have been addressed at trial have been settled. Can’t speak to the exact terms of the deal … Kevin was not [out] to get custody. Kevin’s goal was to set up some kind of template so the mother of his children can co-parent. He said ‘I need to have Britney to be involved in the co-parenting of the kids but I need there to be a structure.’” Mark Kaplan also emphasized the sense of relief everybody is feeling now that an agreement has been reached. He said: “This has been a long ordeal and to have that over is something that makes him extremely happy.”
Yup, all is not still well in their battle for their 2 kids. Come this August, Britney Spears and Kevin Federline will be hashing out their custody issues once more. Mark Kaplan, K-Fed’s attorney, told E News that the celebrity pair tried to work out a custody agreement for their sons Sean Preston, 2½, and Jayden James, 1½, out of court last Thursday with the help of a mediator but failed. Mr. Kaplan said, “The mediation didn’t result in an agreement that would avoid the trial set in August.” However, he shared that the tone of the meeting was good and opened “a great dialogue, which is necessary.”
Mark Kaplan also added that Kevin is asking for sole physical and legal custody of the boys, and wants Britney Spears to continue with her current visitation of three days a week. Last week, the pop princess was granted overnight visits with her sons. After the hearing, K-Fed fled to Miami where he partied till nearly dawn. People.com reported, “Kevin was in a great mood and even talked about a new song he is working on, called Daddy’s Home.” Cool or not?? LOL
Now that she’s been granted overnight privileges and more visitation rights to her two sons, the pop princess is going house hunting so that her sons’ stays with her will be safe and awesome! Read: child-friendly =) Britney Spears is apparently on the lookout for greener, quieter surroundings, as revealed on court documents filed last June 30, 2008. The court papers have shown that Britney Spears is looking for a house with a larger backyard that is closer recreation areas for her two children. BBC News reports:
Britney Spears is looking for a new home with extra outdoor space for her children to play in and more privacy, court records have revealed. Documents show the 26-year-old wants a property closer to parks for Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one. The star has stipulated she wants a “less trafficked” home than her current Beverly Hills house, which is constantly stalked by paparazzi.
The pop star’s father, James, has already requested the sale of $7 million LA house in mid-June, and a court commissioner agreed. James Spears is still acting as Britney’s conservator until now.
That’s what Jamie Lynn Spears’ shirt said last week! The younger sister of Britney Spears took another step toward marriage and motherhood by registering for gifts at Babies R Us last Thursday (March 28). Jamie Lynn apparently drove 80 miles to Baton Rouge from her home at the Serenity mansion in Kentwood to go to the baby store and “somebody called ahead to say they were coming in,” a source told PEOPLE. The Zoey 101 star reportedly flashed an engagement ring on her left hand as she and her cousin both registered for gifts at the store.
Casey Aldridge, the baby’s father, is listed as her “co-registrant” and the “event date” listed is July 10. Britney Spears’ sibling also added the message: “Thank you for supporting us during this special time.” Jamie Lynn’s baby choices ranged from a $1.49 teething ring to a $300 car seat. Other requests include an ultrasound frame, a Cookie Monster bath towel and a Baby Neptune Ocean Gym. She was careful not to select any pink or blue items. I wonder what Britney Spears will get for her upcoming niece or nephew.. A million dollar toy perhaps?? ;-)
Ever since Jamie Spears took control of her life, things have been looking up for the troubled pop star princess. And Britney Spears’ mom, Lynne, have only good things to say about her ex-husband. A family friend told People, “Jamie had to change his whole routine. Lynne sings his praises. He has been such a rock. He has stepped up to the plate.” One reason Lynne is so pleased with what Jamie has done, is because he has managed to surrounded Britney Spears with good influences.
The source further reveals, “He’s gathered a team of reputable people who are around [her] now. She’s not well, but for the first time in a long time she has people around her who really care about her.” Lynne is also happy that Britney Spears finally reunited with her children. The source shared, “Lynne talked to Jamie, and he said it was a good visit. [She] slipped into that motherly mode. They picked up right where they left off. She still has a long way to go [to get better], but that’s what we hope and pray for… Lynne and Jamie want their child to be whole again.”
